About
Kim Sandberg is the owner and founder of Alleviant Health Centers of San Diego and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Biology from University of San Diego and a bachelor’s in Nursing from Creighton University in Omaha, NE, Kim pursued two advanced degrees: Master of Science in Nursing as a Nurse Anesthetist at the University of Southern California and Doctor of Nursing Practice, Healthcare Executive Leadership at American Sentinel University in Aurora, CO.
Ever since receiving her professional training, Kim has worked in a variety of settings that serve as an amazing foundation for leading a clinical team. She has mentored students and residents at Naval Medical Center San Diego, administered anesthesia as staff CRNA in all specialties including pediatric, vascular, general, neurosurgery, plastics, ENT, ophthalmic, orthopedic, GYN and obstetrics and trauma. Over time, she has transitioned to operating as an Independent Nurse Anesthetist and Fulltime Government Service Employee at Naval Medical Center San Diego where she performed preanesthetic assessments and patient evaluations, selecting, ordering and administering preanesthetic fluids and obtaining informed consent for anesthesia. She has also instructed nurse anesthesia residents, medical students, interns and other rotators in methods and administration of anesthesia, signs, and symptoms of medical reactions, complications, and emergency procedures in the delivery of anesthesia.
But the biggest impact on Kim and her work came from her 13 years of service in the Navy Reserve. She has been deployed three times, including one to Afghanistan. Today, she serves as the Executive Officer for Largest Navy Reserve Medical Command, expertly managing 875 members of OHSU San Diego comprised of 25 HQ staff, 13 OIC’s and 8 Navy Operational Support Centers throughout Navy Southwest Region.
Having worked with wounded warriors and families of wounded warriors, Kim has been deeply impacted by witnessing the amounts of physical pain, emotional turmoil and livelihood changes that our heroes face daily. “VA’s are overwhelmed and there are not enough people to meet the demand,” explains Kim.
With opening an Alleviant Health Centers clinic in San Diego, Kim hopes to provide much-needed care for patients that struggle with mental health and chronic pain and especially to the population of veterans and servicemen who desperately need help. Moreover, she is excited to contribute to the holistic health movement by bringing integrative holistic psychiatry and innovative treatments to the community of San Diego.

Before Dr. Tabrah, my mind felt burdened, making it hard to find joy. She truly listened, helping me find the right path with both medication and coping strategies. Now, I’m doing well, and I truly appreciate the positive change she brought to my life.

I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Lawlis and the staff.
He actually listened to me and is doing everything within his power to help me continue on the road to mental health. I’ve also discovered that I have ADHD and that there’s another possible diagnosis as well.
I was a little skeptical about the TMS treatments but they’ve been helping me because I’m med resistant with meds that treat anxiety and depression and I do feel the difference.
I had an incident a couple weeks ago with my local pharmacy and the staff bent over backwards to help me figure it out.
Everyone from the front desk staff, to the person that gives me my TMS treatments, to the scheduler and biller has been phenomenal. I feel seen and respected here and that means everything to me.
Dr. Lawlis also referred me to one of the best therapists I’ve ever had in my life.

Dr Lawlis is compassionate and caring. I have been seeing him for about 6 months now and have even set up an appt for my husband to see him as well. Dr Lawlis is careful to talk through which meds work for me. I would highly recommend him.
