About this retreat

The Colombian Miracle

Medellin has been at the center of the miraculous makeover that Colombia has undergone in the past 10 years, and the world has taken notice. During that short time period, Medellin has gone from being considered one of the most dangerous cities in the world, to being hailed as its most innovative (Wall Street Journal), its most attractive for retirees (Huffington Post), and a must visit for tourists. Colombia has always been known as one of the most beautiful countries in the world, ranking only second to Brazil in total bio-diversity, and its people are the world’s happiest (Win-Gallup report), but now its high mountains, deserts, plains, jungles, extensive network of fresh water rivers, and colorful people are attracting more curious travelers than ever.

It is in this positive cultural context and stunning natural setting that Eagle Condor Alliance offers its sacred medicine retreats. We are located in the mountains to the east of Medellin and can offer participants a life-changing internal journey through the sacred medicines without obligating them to trudge through the jungle.

Colombia is Closer to You

Colombia and our retreat center is closer to the United States and Europe than other centers in Peru, Brazil, and Ecuador, and it’s notably cheaper to get to Medellin than to Cusco or Iquitos. Our center is located only 30 minutes from Medellin´s José María Córdova International Airport (MDE). We offer participants private transport to the center without the added stresses associated with jungle travel.

Explore the Forests Independently

We love the Amazon’s diversity of flora and fauna, and our 7 Generations Foundation works to protect it. During ECA retreats, participants can feel free to explore the unique high-altitude tropical forests of the Andes without knee high rubber boots, a machete, or the rest of the group.

No Injections or Vaccinations Needed

Because of our location, there is no need for any injections or vaccinations that are required for travel within the Amazon jungle. There is a diversity of wildlife in the forests outside of Medellin, just less mosquitos and health concerns.

Mild Weather in the Colombian Andes

The mild Andean climate enables you to enjoy being active during the day and to sleep well at night. If you can, imagine springtime meets autumn at 8,500ft in the tropics.

Comfortable Accommodation and Hot Showers

We offer comfortable accommodation with double beds, comforters, and soft linens because we believe that rest, sleeping well, and relaxation is crucial to integrating the teachings of the medicines and to feeling your best during ceremonies. Hot showers, fresh drinking water from the tap, and indoor and outdoor hammocks help take the stress out of being away from home.

More information

The vision for the Eagle Condor Alliance first formed when our 2 Colombian healers, Greison Leonidas Lezama and Gonzalo Águila Garcia, and our 3 retreat facilitators, Hans, Jesse and Bobby, shared a series of Ayahuasca ceremonies deep in the Colombian Amazon. It was at Greison´s maloka in the Putomayo that we committed ourselves to being the bridge to sacred medicines of the Americas and to preserving the traditional and ancient ceremonies in which these medicines are given. During retreats, Hans, Jesse, and Bobby support the transformative processes of participants and act as translators and caretakers during ceremonies. Our connection now stretches back over 5 years of sweat lodges and sacred medicine ceremonies. Over that time we have had the privilege of sharing hundreds of ceremonies with international guests and travelers who have joined our cause and become part of the ECA family. We have also had the honor of sharing medicine and prayer in our retreat facilities with some of the most revered healers and elders in the Americas. Our dream to create this center and foundation has been supported by our brothers and sisters who have shared these spaces with us and have decided to dedicate their energies to giving more people access to the health and healing through the medicines. Those individuals make it possible for us to fulfill our mission to spread consciousness and love, preserve the original and ancient forms of these ceremonies, support the well-being of indigenous communities, and conserve Colombian forests that are critical to the health of the planet and its inhabitants. The ECA is a bridge between the western world and the ancestral wisdom and traditions of the indigenous communities of Colombia and the Americas, and that bridge is held up by the pillars of tradition, love, prayer and medicine. We give thanks for this moment in our lives and for the innumerable contributions from the ECA family that make our work possible.
