About

A little about my background….I’m originally from the Midwest. I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology in 2015 at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. Most recently, I worked in the counseling centers at UC Berkeley and San Jose State University. Both campuses have considerable diversity in age, racial and ethnic background, sexual orientation, gender expression, and therapeutic goals. I thoroughly enjoyed these experiences, which honed in on my ability to support people at different stages of life and help them work through issues such as anxiety, depression, identity development, adjustment, stress, interpersonal problems, and body image/self-esteem concerns. I have a special interest in meditation and have facilitated multiple mindfulness groups with themes of self-compassion, Buddhism, and stress-reduction. My roles at universities have focused on counseling, advocating for, and supporting the LGBTQIA communities through avenues such as therapy, workshops, community outreach, and mentorship. I strive to provide an environment in which individuals can speak their truth and be heard with respect and acceptance.

How I work with clients

I believe in our own personal wisdom and agency, and thus view the therapy process as a puzzle with both therapist and client having different pieces that come together to create a clearer picture of understanding. I hope to empower clients by shining light on blind spots, knowing themselves more fully, and using this to create a healthy path forward.

Treatment approach

I use a variety of modalities in a personalized approach tailored to each person’s needs. This often includes personal exploration, reflection, and tools such as CBT, mindfulness, or interpersonal processing.
