About

My name is Shea Prueger and I have been an ibogaine provider for over 10 years. I began an apprenticeship in 2011 after integrating my own experience with the medicine for Suboxone and opiate dependency.

I began my apprenticeship with ibogaine in Guatemala and Costa RIca, spending most of my time in Costa Rica for the next handful of years. I also apprenticed a couple of doctors and nurses + took an EMT course while living in Asia.

In 2012, I opened up the first medically supervised ibogaine center in SE Asia in Thailand. I fell in love with Thailand, but eventually returned back to Costa Rica for further training and to help out a large center that was overwhelmingly busy. Over the next several years I would spend time running a large center in Costa Rica, helping out a center in South Africa, and returning to SE Asia to work in Cambodia.

In 2017, I took a break from ibogaine realizing I was burned out, didn’t have a life outside of ibogaine, my relationships were suffering, and I was not convinced the way I was working was best for me or my clients. I had seen a plethora of medical emergencies while training and after having one adverse medical event within my own clinic, I knew I had to take time to reformulate my approach to the medicine.

This led me to reformulate my approach to ibogaine treatments alongside my life partner and ibogaine partner, Ben Witmer. We have established caring and skilled staff members around the world. We work in pre-booked blocks of time in Costa Rica and SE Asia. We host longer stays starting at 9 days, with an average 14-day stay. We also offer extended stays and a cumulative, low, and repeated dosing methodology, as well as a traditional flood dose treatment. We scaled down and prefer to only work with one or two people at a time which allows us to offer individualized treatments with a focus on integration that is specific to an individual’s preferences, interests, and needs.

Ben is a fine artist and offers art therapy while I am a freediver and offer an introduction into the water in a therapeutic manner. We have a bodyworker, acupuncturist, integration and activity staff member, a meditation leader, and we also have a paramedic, nurse, and doctor who is either on call or at the center for your stay. Treatment staff varies based on location. Please talk to us about the individual staff that will be present to support you on your journey!

We have an extended history of working with synthetic and long-acting opioids such as Suboxone, methadone, and fentanyl.

We also have experience with stimulants, alcohol, and some mental health diagnoses such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders. We are trauma-informed and understand that most of our clients have trauma they are also working through and are comfortable working with PTSD.

Over the years we have worked with several auto-immune disorders such as chronic Lyme disease as well as other diagnoses such as fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Please reach out to us to talk about your specific circumstances. If we do not feel we are the best fit for you or feel someone else is specialized in your circumstances — we will refer you to the correct people. That being said, we also host a couple of settings a year where we offer shorter stays and work with people who are looking to expand consciousness.

We have a heart monitor, ECG machine, and defibrillator for every session as well as crash cart medications and other emergency medications and IV fluids. We check vitals every 20-30 minutes for the first 24 hours and continue to monitor for 72 hours. We do this with appreciation to the therapeutic side of this process and offer as much holistic support in an ambient environment while remaining safe.

During half of the year, I spend my time in Hawaii as a writer, freediver, adventurer, and also consult with clients on micro-dosing, preparing for upcoming ibogaine dates, as well as focus my efforts as an advocate for ethics, inclusivity, safety, and accountability in the ibogaine industry via the The Root Ibogaine Collective (www.ibogainecollective.com).

How I work with clients

Ibogaine Revelations approaches each client with a unique and individualized plan. We recognize that ibogaine is not a "one size fits all" medicine and tailor each session to match a client's needs, interests, physiological demands, personality, as well as behavioral patterns. From our day-to-day itinerary, to ibogaine dosing, to integration and booster/microdoses -- everything is individualized so that it is safe and supportive of the client.

Treatment approach

Over ten years I have learned a lot about ibogaine and the way it works people. We never start our clients upon arrival. We stabilize most substance dependent people for at least 4 days before treatment. We like to spend time getting to know our non substance people as well! We use smaller doses with diagnostic tools such as an ECG in the few days before treatment to gauge a perosn's sensitivity and reaction to the medicine. This helps us moving forward. While we do flood doses, which is a traditional way of working with clients, we also work with a low and repeated dosing protocol for higher risk individuals. Please speak to us about this option as it can take quite a bit of time.
