About

Originally from Seattle, Washington, James ‘Jahmaya’ Kessler has lived in Northern California and Hawaii in addition to traveling extensively in Asia. In 2008 he decided to relocate to Colorado to attend Naropa University where he obtained a Master of Transpersonal Psychology.

Jahmaya has dedicated several years working with the incarcerated population in Boulder. As Boulder County’s Jail Education Program Coordinator, he facilitated group therapy and individual sessions while undertaking the numerous responsibilities required of a paramilitary institution. In 2018, he began his private practice while continuing to offer monthly workshops throughout Colorado with the assistance of the Realness Project.

Over the years, he has received professional training in Gestalt Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Shambhala Meditation, Reiki Healing Level III and Mindfulness-Based Psychedelic Therapy through the Center for Medicinal Mindfulness. The radical results Jahmaya has witnessed through his psychedelic work with clients has transformed him into a passionate advocate for the use of psychedelic medicine as an effective catalyst to traditional therapy.
