Mary Claire Gottesman

Mary Claire is a Licensed Master Social Worker practicing under the supervision of Andrea Turnipseed, LCSW. Mary Claire graduated from U.T. Austin with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and went on to receive her Master of Social Work from Texas State University. Mary Claire’s diverse experiences before entering private practice involved working with clients of all ages and included time with Child Protective Services, Gardner Betts Juvenile Detention Center, Austin Lakes Hospital, and experience conducting assessments and counseling individuals and groups at the Travis County Jail and Travis County Correctional Complex.

Mary Claire often utilizes a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approach but believes each individual has their own unique needs and pathways to realizing their full potential in therapy, and beyond. Practice areas include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety/mood disorders and substance use disorders as well as relationship struggles, loss/grief and general life transitions.
