What type of therapy can I expect?
I support the idea that people have the right to decide their own values so I have a very non-judgmental approach when working with client concerns. I use empathy, curiosity, and humor in our sessions as we work together to accomplish your therapeutic goals. This also means you get to choose what you want to discuss in therapy. For example, if you are not interested in going through your past and childhood, we will focus our time more on the present and future. If you are interested in understanding more about how your childhood and attachment impacts your current way of functioning and relationships, we can explore those too. You get to choose the direction you want to take when it comes to your therapy.

Just listening and asking you “How does that make you feel” is not my approach. You and I will get work done and you will be given tools to use in your day-to-day life outside of therapy.

My main approach is grounded in Positive Psychology, Attachment Theory, EMDR, Humanistic Psychology, and the Psychodynamic Model. I am more interested in focusing on your strengths (rather than perceived weaknesses) and I see you as a whole person, rather than the sum of your parts. We will work on helping you become self-actualized and realizing your full potential, while decreasing any symptoms that keep you from functioning at the level you desire. Note: EMDR is an 8-phase treatment and does not use traditional talk therapy or homework.

Depending on your needs and wants, I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as aspects of Strengths Based Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and a Family Systems approach. I may also bring in a variety of expressive arts and mindfulness techniques to guide our process. Rather than forcing a client into a specific modality, I tailor an approach that works best for each individual or group.
