About

I have been a psychotherapist for over twenty years, specializing in healing the early childhood wounds from living with overly critical, anxious, or emotionally unavailable parents. These experiences leave subtle, but deep and lasting wounds that make people feel not-good-enough. I trained under a master therapist who specialized in reparenting the self with unconditional love, kindness, warmth, and acceptance. The work is similar to IFS, though without the jargon, and prioritizing the relationship between a safe and secure adult part and inner children of different ages with different developmental needs.

I provide online therapy via secure video chat. Office appointments are available for first-time psychedelic assisted therapy sessions, weekend mornings. In person sessions last approximately 3 hours and require that clients have a safe and trusted driver to and from the session. All other appointments – preparation, integration, and ongoing therapy are conducted online. Subsequent psychedelic journeys done remotely also require a safe and trusted sitter who I can contact via text or phone during your session.

How I work with clients

I help people who feel not-good-enough and struggle with assertiveness and people pleasing learn to give themselves the care they keep giving away to everyone else. My clients learn to give themselves the unconditional nurturing and support they most needed in childhood, but didn't get because their parents struggled with limitations like immaturity, mental illness, and/or addiction. From a place of deep self love and inner security, it becomes easier to say no to relationships or activities that feel one sided or unhealthy. When the process of self-love becomes difficult due to entrenched, limiting beliefs, I am available to guide clients who want to use psychedelics to enhance neuroplasticity and gain insights and healing through non-ordinary states of consciousness.

Treatment approach

My primary approach is a mentoring/coaching process helping you access the wise, caring adult within you and helping that part of you learn to re-parent yourself from a secure, attachment-based perspective. This approach is similar to IFS in that we are working with parts of the self. However, I don't use IFS terms to describes parts and their functions. Instead, I teach the behaviors and attitudes held by secure parents as they foster security in their kids. This includes shifting self-talk away from criticism and self-judgment and toward curiosity and self-empathy. As inner child parts learn they can trust the inner parent, feelings of safety, tenderness warmth and inner strength arise. When child parts are unable to accept or trust in the inner parent's love and support, we can turn to psychedelics, hypnotherapy, and/or EMDR to shift self-limiting beliefs and deeply entrenched fears about love, worth, and your ability to live fully in your truth without fear or guilt.
