About

The Space Between is a state-of-the-art facility specifically designed for ketamine therapy. Our facility has was chosen and intentionally designed to be calming for those who may be under duress. All our treatment rooms have South facing Hudson River views from the 34th floor, and get direct sunlight most of the day. Our facility is small, independently run, and discretely located in a large office building in a location surrounded by public transportation options.

Dr. John Seitz, the medical director of The Space Between, has nearly 20 years of experience administering ketamine. Dr. Seitz personally places all the IVs for his patients, and is present for the duration of their experience. Our observation is that the feeling of safety is the foundation of psychedelic therapy. Without the patient feeling safe and held, it’s very difficult for positive transformational experiences to reliably occur. Having a qualified, confident, and experienced physician like Dr. Seitz physically present, administering the medicine can help set the framework for lasting transformational psychedelic therapy.

We believe that ketamine therapy works best with integration within 24-72 hours of the session. We insist on integration and/or psychotherapy being in place before proceeding with ketamine therapy. The Space Between is unique in that we work with the existing therapists of our patients alongside our ketamine treatments. Most of our patients have pre-existing relationships with their therapist or psychiatrist, and we strive to preserve those relationships and keep communication fluid and open throughout the process. If you are a therapist and interested in this work, please reach out to us!

Treatment approach

A slow gradual infusion of IV ketamine over 45 minutes allows for more control and flexibility in dosing, which means we can adjust the dosage or stop the treatment in the rare event that the patient wishes to terminate the treatment. We also have the ability to increase the dose during a mid-session check-in with our patients. In contrast, other forms of ketamine therapy deliver the entire dose upfront, leaving no way to stop the treatment or reduce the dosage midway. IV ketamine therapy offers a more consistent and controlled experience, resulting in the most clinically optimal outcomes for patients.
