About

I have lived in the Denver area since 1987. Prior to that my childhood was in Baltimore Maryland. I graduated from Golden High school and I served in the US Navy from 1993 through 1997. I graduated from Metropolitan State University in 2003 with a bachelors degree in psychology. I went on to graduate school at The University of Colorado at Denver, and graduated from The University of Southern Maine with a Masters of Science in Counseling in 2008. I am trained and certified in the Hakomi method, a mindfulness-based experiential body-centered psychotherapy. I am also a certified EMDR therapist. Prior to earning a masters and becoming licensed I worked for several years in direct-care positions in residential treatment centers and psychiatric hospitals.

I love living in Colorado and I enjoy many of its outdoor opportunities. I snow board, back-country backpack, and fly fish just to name a few. I also love spending time with my family. I meditate daily and I practice yoga regularly. I love the benefits of the integration of body, mind, and spirit that yoga and meditation and being a somatic therapist bring. I have a spiritual practice and I honor my client’s spiritual practices. I do not push an agenda in therapy or judge anyone regardless of their religious, secular, or political views.

How I work with clients

In order to effect real and meaningful changes in ourselves we have to go deeper than just talking about what's wrong. Neuroscience tells us that over 80% of what we do, think, and feel, is out of our conscious awareness. This is why I use core-level modalities such as Hakomi, EMDR and Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy. These methods employ a mindfulness and somatic (body-centered) focus which help us go deeper than our story. I will also coach you to practice mindfulness in your life which is essential in putting your sessions to work in your life.

Treatment approach

My warm and approachable style creates the necessary container to help clients go inside themselves and to heal the parts of themselves which are causing so much pain and dysfunction. You are not broken, you do not need "fixing." You hold the keys to healing yourself.
