About

Paul C. McGinnis is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works from a mindfulness and relational perspective. He is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and certified in Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), a body-oriented approach to healing trauma. Paul is an Austin native, but left for sunny Southern California to attend Pepperdine University, where he received his Master of Clinical Psychology. He spent the following 3 years in Los Angeles working at a community based counseling center and teaching yoga on the side. In 2015, he returned to Austin, founded his private practice where he facilitates patients’ self-exploration, growth, and healing. Paul is a trauma-informed and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.

Paul believes Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy can be an amazing tool for interrupting maladaptive patterns and facilitating long-lasting positive change. An avid reader and life-long lover of learning he is committed to implementing the most effective and up to date treatment methods for his patients.

In his free time, Paul enjoys outdoor activities, photography, visiting museums and adventures with his dog, Lana.

How I work with clients

I strive to create a safe, nurturing environment for personal exploration and growth. I believe the strength of our therapeutic alliance is the most important factor in creating sustainable, positive change. How we work together will depend on you and your goals for therapy, but with that said, I approach all of my work from a Mindfulness and Relational perspective.
