About

Our goal is to provide relief and offer hope to those who have lost themselves to chronic illnesses. At Illumma, our practitioners are driven by a shared mission to provide hope and relief for those suffering from chronic mental health and pain syndromes where conventional treatments have not been successful.

How we work with clients

Ketamine is administered through an intravenous infusion. Your treatment protocol is customized to meet your needs, but most people get a series of six transfusions over 2-4 weeks. The results from one infusion last a few days to a month. Your results last longer when you get a series of transfusions, typically providing relief for several weeks to months. As the effect starts to wear off, a single booster infusion is often enough to restore and extend your results. If you’re being treated for a mental health condition, your infusion takes one hour. Ketamine is infused over two hours when it’s for pain relief. In both cases, you can add another hour to your total time in the office for pre-infusion preparation and recovery. You’re constantly monitored by highly experienced health care professionals to ensure you’re safe and comfortable. During the transfusion, some people feel like they’re in a dream state or experience changes in their vision, speech, or thought processes. If that happens, your transfusion is adjusted. Though side effects aren’t common, they can occur. Your trained professional is there to help should you develop nausea, vomiting, fatigue, or high blood pressure.

Great nurse, exorbitant fees, inconsistent front desk

I’ve been seeing Thibault at Downtown Doctor for a couple years for hormone replacement therapy, and she’s always been a kind, respectful, and cheerful presence. However, with the frequency of times I have to visit (every 3 months) to go over routine bloodwork that amounts to sitting for 10 minutes while being told “everything looks good, you’re good to go,” each visit costing around $170 out of pocket, going here has proved very costly. For a long time the people working the front desk seemed very despondent every time I came to visit, and their apparent gloom made for not the most inviting atmosphere. However, in the past couple months, they’ve been super upbeat and helpful, so I’m glad to see morale has improved. Overall, my experience with Downtown Doctor has been mostly positive, with some bumps along the way, but it appears to be improving.
